Developmental Team

The Women’s Development Program (WDP) was created with the belief that all athletes, regardless of their potential, must have a solid foundation of basic skills in order to advance safely. The program allows the gymnast to advance at their own pace, competing in more than one level in a year, if they so choose once they meet the level requirements.

In order to compete in a sanctioned competition, an athlete must be a registered USA Gymnastics Athlete Member.

A gymnast may compete in a maximum of two (2) State Championships per competitive year (one per season), either at the same or higher level.

The WDP is divided into three major segments; developmental, compulsory, and optional.

COMPULSORY TEAM

LEVELS 3 - 5

  • USA Gymnastics created routines for these beginning competitive levels to develop a solid foundation of basic skills in order to advance safely and efficiently.
  • The levels are progressive in nature, building upon the skills required at the previous level.
  • Gymnasts learn the basics to gymnastics allowing success at the higher levels.

OPTIONAL TEAM

LEVEL 6 - 10

  • These levels provide creativity through routine development, allowing for individual strength of gymnast in competition.
  • Optional levels require increased training times to allow for development of difficult optional skills.
  • Proceeding State Championships there are additional competitive experiences for Level 9 & 10 which are Western Championships and J.O. National Championships.
